About Northampton Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Mission & Vision

For more than a century, Kiwanis has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe and healthy regardless of the community in which they live. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things can happen.

To reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities, many clubs sponsor a Kiwanis family club — K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; Circle K clubs for university students; and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.

Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. The Northampton Kiwanis Club fulfills the Kiwanis mission by serving our community through Kiwanis Community Service Projects.

Northampton Kiwanis Priorities

Education & Literacy

One way to ensure that children have the best possible start in life is to make sure that every child has access to books and well-resourced schools. The Northampton Kiwanis Club has installed several “Little Free Libraries across the region, prioritizing Northampton’s low-income housing communities and the more isolated towns in our area. The club also administers the Donald Tepper Award for Northampton High School students, and is developing our own financial award to recognize students from Smith Vocational High School and the HEC Academy for their outstanding community service. The Northampton Kiwanis Club supports our local schools’ PTOs, teacher emergency funds, and administrators who understand that our country’s public schools are here for more than just education — they are the safety net that ensures all children have the chance to thrive.

Conservation & the Environment

Kiwanis cares about kids, and we need to make sure that the planet will be around for those kids. The Northampton Kiwanis Club partners with several local organizations and clubs to keep our community clean. Each year, the Friends of the Northampton Trails organizes a cleanup of the Manhan Rail Trail, and we make sure we have a team ready to help! We support the Northampton High School’s Environmental Club and the Northampton Reuse Committee’s solid waste collection events, including bulky plastic, Styrofoam, and paint.

Nonprofit Partners

Many of our club members also represent local nonprofit organizations working to improve the lives of so many in our community. We are proud to support the Veteran’s Services of Northampton, It Takes a Village, All Out Adventures, Friends of the Northampton Trails, Western Mass Rabbit Rescue, and so many more!
